So for the last 2 months I've been Pantomiming round the country! After being requested by M&M Productions to fill in for their injured actor, I stepped into the roles of Silly Billy and Eric (The eventual Prince), as well as playing a rabbit skin character.
Playing two speaking roles that are so completely different has been a great challenge and a fun addition of skills to my acting portfolio. As both the comedy character and the principal male parts require different skills, I have found the part interesting and engaging, but I have ended every day absolutely shattered! The rabbit part forces me to move to another actor's voice (from backstage), and my physicality is thoroughly tested, as well as my ability to listen! Singing popular songs is interesting, and I'm surprised how many I subconsciously already knew the words to! As we all know improvisation is a major focus in panto, as children are prone to shout out the strangest things, I am really enjoying reacting to them. So far we have had lots of great compliments from kids, parents and teachers and have delighted children, adults and 'grandadults' from Milton Keynes to Manchester. Onwards until February! Merry Christmas everyone! Freddie x
